Chapter Seven

Uri moved his cheek against a hard surface and then settled again when Virion’s scent hit him. He dozed lightly, coming awake a little at a time. The ache in his ass was the first thing he noticed. He wiggled around and slung his leg over the top of Virion.

“Shh, I’ve got you, baby. You’re safe.” Virion gently patted one of his ass cheeks and never opened his eyes.

Uri couldn’t help but find Virion cute. He wasn’t even awake, and he still reassured Uri of his protection. “You’ve got my ass cheek.”

“Shh.” Virion patted his ass again.

Uri chuckled and made circles with his finger on Virion’s bare chest to keep himself occupied while he waited for Virion to wake up. He trailed his finger around Virion’s nipple and then over it. He loved the way they looked, a shade darker than Virion’s already dark skin tone.

Virion put a hand over his, stilling his movements.

Uri smiled and looked up to see if Virion was awake. Virion had one eye cracked open when their gazes met.

“Good morning.” Uri kissed where his lips could reach.

Virion traced a finger along Uri’s cheek and frowned. “How are you feeling?”

The question had Uri realizing Virion must be asking because of the bruising on his face. “Well rested. Perfect.”

“The bruise is darker today.” His frown deepened.

“My ass aches.” Uri scooted up Virion’s body enough to kiss the bite he had left last night. “You should kiss it and make it better.”

Virion chuckled and wrapped his arms around Uri’s waist. “I take it you liked what we did?”

Uri kissed the bite again and then on Virion’s neck. “Yes. When can we do it again?”

They might have problems that they’d put on hold for the time being but making love wasn’t one of them. In fact, Uri hoped what they’d done last night made Virion see that Uri wasn’t a gold digger, but he wouldn’t know for sure until they talked.

Being in the barracks had created this bubble of contentment for some reason. Maybe it was just the fact that so many others were around, it had them both shelving the argument. Or maybe it had something to do with that cabin. Uri didn’t know how Virion felt, but living together right after meeting seemed ridiculous.

Sex was one thing. He could have sex without it feeling permanent. Even the bite didn’t feel as permanent as living together did.

And yeah, he knew how backward that sounded. They should be dating for at least a few weeks before sex came into play and months before they talked about moving in together. Wasn’t that how humans with family groups did things? Singles like him rushed into everything because they needed each other for even basic things, like shelter and food, so sex became a survival tool, and each party knew the score.

Uri put his head on Virion’s chest. “I’m sorry.”

Virion ran a hand up his back. “For what?”

Uri shrugged. He wasn’t good at being serious about something. He’d never really had to explain heavy feelings before, mostly because he hadn’t ever had any.
